  • Growth Habit: Indeterminate (Climbing/Cordon). Requires a strong stake, tall cage, or trellis framework to support its vigorous growth.

  • Sowing Season:

    • Temperate/Cool (e.g., Tasmania, Victoria): Early Spring (indoors with bottom heat) through to Late Spring. Plant out into the garden once all danger of frost has passed.

    • Subtropical: Autumn through to Early Spring.

    • Tropical: Late Autumn to Mid-Winter.

  • Position: Full sun. Thrives in rich, deeply composted, well-draining soil with an ideal pH of 6.0–6.8.

  • Sowing Depth: 6mm deep.

  • Spacing: 50cm apart between plants; 90cm apart between rows.

  • Germination: 7–14 days at a warm soil temperature of 21°C–27°C.
