We weren’t born into farming—but the heartbeat of a more nature centered life called to us. From the creative buzz of Sydney’s inner west and our years spent between city life and the Blue Mountains where we grew up, our path eventually led us to the rolling hills of Southern Tasmania. Our early days were shaped by art, community, and curiosity, but everything changed after backpacking through Europe. Slovenia’s small family farms, overflowing gardens, and slow-living charm planted a seed in us: a longing for a life lived closer to the earth. When our first daughter arrived, that longing became a mission. Discovering permaculture gave us the roadmap. For the past 14 years we’ve been learning, growing, and building—from rented small farms in Oberon NSW to the quiet valleys of Tasmania. Today we keep heritage chickens, tend our bees with natural methods, We've milked Jersey cows and goats, homeschooled our children, and grow much of our own food. It’s a life shaped by rhythm,
Our current little rented farm is a place of purpose: a permaculture haven, a bee sanctuary, and the heart of Gatherer Forager. Here, every product begins with nature. Every season offers something new to harvest, blend, ferment, infuse or craft. Gatherer Forager is our way of sharing that seasonal magic with you. We create handmade, small-batch products inspired by the land around us. As our business evolves, we hope to offer a mix of handmade items and carefully chosen goods from other small makers, allowing us to grow sustainably and continue supporting our family while staying true to our principles. Where We're Heading Our dream is to one day purchase our own land, build a small on-farm shop, welcome visitors for workshops and tours, and establish a permanent sanctuary for pollinators. We want Gatherer Forager to feel like a place where the seasons guide the shelves, where every product has a purpose, and where sustainability and creativity meet.
At Our Core, No matter how we grow or what new directions we explore, our heart stays the same: to create seasonal, nature-led products made with care, intention, and a deep respect for the earth. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Anne & Dane
