• Scientific Name: Daucus carota 'Kuroda'

• Sowing Season: * Temperate/Cool: Spring through to early Autumn.

  • Subtropical/Tropical: Best during the cooler months (late Autumn to early Spring).

• Position: Full sun; prefers loose, friable soil but is more tolerant of heavy soil than other varieties.

• Sowing Depth: 5mm–1cm deep. Direct sow into final position.

• Spacing: 5–8cm apart in rows 25cm apart.

• Germination: 10–20 days. Keep soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge.

• Harvest: 75–90 days from sowing.

• Gardener’s Tip: To ensure straight roots, deeply loosen the soil and remove any large stones before sowing. For better germination in hot weather, cover your seed rows with a damp piece of hessian or a plank of wood to keep the soil cool and moist until the first sprouts appear.
